SALVAGE LISTING

AUCTIONS and TENDERS
List of vehicles and items up for auction & tender

COVID-19 Update - Effective September 9, masks are mandatory at all MPI locations for both staff and customers. This includes customers who choose to view salvage items in person at MPI's Physical Damage Centre (PDC), located at 1981 Plessis Road.

Please note the following changes regarding MPI Salvage Operations processes and upcoming sales:

  • Due to operational changes required at our Physical Damage Centre (PDC) in Winnipeg as a result of COVID-19, in-person viewing for items located at the PDC will no longer be available beginning the week of November 2, 2020.

We understand that being able to evaluate a vehicle ahead of bidding is important and we are committed to offering a 360° views of the exterior and interior of 2000 vehicles and newer. For items older than 2000, we will provide as many photos as possible; all listings will include a minimum of 10 high-definition photos.

  • In lieu of holding our weekly auction on Wednesday, November 11 (Remembrance Day), the auction will be held on Tuesday, November 10 at 9 a.m.

  • Effectively immediately, MPI Salvage Operations will not be accepting cash payments for MPI Salvage Items until further notice. Customers are encouraged to pay through online options, including INTERAC Online or by sending an electronic fund transfer.

  • If you are choosing to pay for your salvage items via electronic fund transfer (EFT), please note that that MPI's account number has changed. Please find the updated information here, under Payment options.

  • If you are visiting PDC in person to make a payment, customers are asked to:
    • Follow public health guidance on travel and self-isolation.
    • Wear a non-medical mask at all times.
    • Follow physical distancing guidelines and allow for a two-metre (six-foot) distance from other customers and staff.
    • Have only one individual per household/group/business enter, unless otherwise required for business.

To offer a more transparent and accessible auction process from start to finish, Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) is working with Impact Auto Auctions (Impact) to allow customers to view, bid, purchase and pay for MPI Salvage Items online starting later this month.

Live online auctions hosted by Impact with MPI Salvage Items will begin on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 and continue to be held weekly every Wednesday.

With the move to a more accessible online format, MPI will no longer hold in-person salvage auctions.

As we move to align with the majority of other salvage sellers in Canada, this shift to online-only auctions will make MPI's processes more cost-effective, and in turn, contribute to overall lower insurance rates for all Manitobans.

Through this new easy-to-navigate system, buyers can expect a more comprehensive package for each salvage item before they even place a bid - more photos, including a 360° view of the exterior and interior of most vehicles, current odometer readings and more!

This new open bidding model will also allow customers to make more informed buying decisions by following along in real-time during auctions as well as using the pre-bid and maximum bid features.
